Abstract

The prophets and apostles receive the word of God or the word of God which is called revelation. Of course, the revelation from Allah which is used as the main source for Muslims is the Qur'an, besides that there are also other sources of law, namely hadith, ijma' and qiyas. Al-Qur'an as a revelation and the main source of law for Muslims, of course, also functions as a guide and guidance in living life. With the Al-Qur'an and all sources of law such as hadith, ijma' and qiya, it is hoped that one can adhere more firmly to the Islamic religion. But what needs to be remembered in studying existing legal sources is also needed to study so that there are no mistakes in interpretation. The purpose of this writing is so that everyone can become more familiar with the Qur'an and other sources of law, know the functions of the Qur'an and can better understand the methods of interpretation in order to avoid mistakes in interpreting a verse. The results of this writing show that the Al-Qur'an as a revelation for Muslims has various functions that are so important for Muslims. The function that is considered the most important is as a guide in living life. Apart from that, interpreting a verse or interpreting it cannot be arbitrary because there are methods used to avoid misinterpretation.
